Djumshud Shevanyaevich Ashurov (born Shumshul Ashurov; Russian: Джумшуд Шеваньяевич Ашуров; Hebrew: ג'ומשוד אשורוב; 1913–1980) was the first Soviet composer of Mountain Jewish origin. In 1961 he was awarded the title of "Honored Artist of the Dagestan ASSR". On April 10, 1970, on behalf of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, he was awarded the Jubilee Medal "In Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin".
