"Judy and Don were considered the first Black power couple in the 70's. When they were both at the height of their careers- he was starring in "Ironside," and she was starring in "Peyton's Place" and many other TV series- they were one of the first Black couples to purchase a home in Hollywood Hills. Don was known to be the only African American in his neighborhood to ride around town in a Rolls Royce, which seemed to have drawn a lot of attention during that time. Don and Judy were married from 1972- 1986 and Don sadly passed away on 2013 from natural causes at the age of 70. (anni2700)

He and Pace have two daughters; actress Julia Pace Mitchell, who appears on the CBS daytime soap opera The Young and the Restless, and attorney Shawn Meshelle Mitchell.
