Dong Jingwei (simplified Chinese: 董经纬; traditional Chinese: 董經緯; pinyin: Dǒng Jīngwěi; born November 18, 1963) is a Chinese politician who has served as vice minister of the Chinese Ministry of State Security (MSS) since 2018. Prior to that he served as the agency's chief of counterintelligence. In June 2021, limited reports surfaced alleging Dong’s defection to the United States with information on the origins of COVID-19.
