Eugène Lourié (Russian: Евгений Лурье, Yevgeniy Lur'ye; born Yevgeny Lure; 8 April 1903 – 26 May 1991) was a Russian-French filmmaker, who worked variously as a director, production designer, art director, and special effects artist. He was a collaborator of Jean Renoir during the 1930s, when he was called "among the best art directors in French cinema." Later he became known as a director of American science fiction films, like The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms.
