Actress Eve Myles has revealed that her Italian wedding was so exclusive, it only had one guest – her three-year-old daughter Matilda!
The Tuscany wedding last month saw Eve marry her partner of 15 years – fellow actor Bradley Freegard from Pontypridd – in a majestic Italian ceremony.
The wedding was a long-time coming for Eve and Bradley, who first met in the National Youth Theatre during the 1990s. The Torchwood star said their busy professional life got in the way in the past.
“It was heaven on earth,” the Ystradgynlais-born actress told WalesOnline.
“I’d put my wedding off three times because of work commitments. This time I said we’re not putting it off this time, we’re getting married this year.”
In a dress designed by Jenny Packham – who counts the Duchess of Cambridge and Angelina Jolie amongst her clients – the couple exchanged traditional Italian wedding vows followed by an intimate family meal in what Eve described as the “most beautiful room I have ever been in.”
“It was in the most beautiful villa, we sat on a big wedding table, with crystal chandeliers above us and we had our own waiter. Matilda was just happily running around. It was an amazing day.
“And the day after we just visited Florence and Sienna eating pizza and drinking cold beer. Italy is an amazing country.”
It’s a fairytale end to a romance which took its time getting off the ground.
Eve revealed, tongue firmly in cheek: “I couldn’t get rid of him, and then he became part of the furniture. He would knock on my dorm-room door all the time with Champagne and glasses he’d pinched from his mother’s house.
“Then one day I realised he was rather handsome!”
