Fedir Parfenovych Bohatyrchuk (also Bogatirchuk, Bohatirchuk, Bogatyrtschuk) (in Ukrainian : Федір Парфенович Богатирчук, Fedir Parfenovych Bohatyrchuk; in Russian : Фёдор Парфеньевич Богатырчук, Fyodor Parfenyevich Bogatyrchuk) (27 November 1892 – 4 September 1984) was a Ukrainian-Canadian International Master of chess, and an International Master of correspondence chess. He also was a doctor of medicine (radiologist), a political activist, a writer, and a chess writer. A connection has been implied between Bohatyrchuk and the fictional Dr. Zhivago, the subject of a popular novel by Boris Pasternak (winner of the 1958 Nobel Prize in Literature), as well as a 1965 Academy Award-winning film of the same name, based on this novel.
