Francesco Maria Da Lecce (died 1718) was a Franciscan Arberësh missionary and author, most likely from Lecce in Apulia. He is the author of Da Lecce (1716) or Osservazioni grammaticali nella lingua albanese, the first published Albanian grammar written in 1716, in Rome. The text is considered part of the North Albanian Catholic tradition. Da Lecce also the author of the unpublished Italian-Albanian dictionary dated 1702. In 1692, the Holy Congregation of the Propaganda Fide sent him to Albania as an apostolic prefect, where he learned Albanian. In December 1703, he met with Vincentius Zmajevich, the Catholic Archbishop of Bar, a council was held in Mërqia in Lezhë. The council was called Kuvendi i Arbënit (Albanian Council) and helped produce important linguistic documents which helped spread knowledge of 18th century Albania.
