He previously served as an assistant coach for Rice and Baylor. Okam played college football at Texas and was drafted by the Houston Texans in the fifth round of the 2008 NFL Draft. He also was a member of the Seattle Seahawks, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Omaha Nighthawks and New York Giants
