Frederick Augustus Nicholson (1849–1936) was a British civil servant in the Indian Civil Service who served in the Madras Presidency. He is known to have initiated the introduction of cooperative credit societies in India through his reports and recommendations in the 1890s. His proposals were later considered in the drafting of the Cooperative Credit Societies Act of 1904.
