Gaber Ahmed Asfour (Arabic: جابر أحمد عصفور, (born 25 March 1944 in El-Mahalla El-Kubra, Egypt) is an Egyptian professor at Cairo University since 1966, who was appointed as the Minister of Culture on 1 February 2011. He has published Countering Fanaticism, Times of the Novel and In Defense of the Enlightenment, among others.
