George Carrington (March 15, 1711 – February 7, 1785), was a surveyor, merchant, planter and legislator in the Colony of Virginia, who supported independence. His 38-year service in the Virginia House of Burgesses and House of Delegates was only briefly interrupted. As one of Virginia’s most significant landholders, he became the patriarch of the influential Carrington family.
