Ginny Simms became the featured singer for Kay Kyser`s band. Simms and Kyser were romantically involved and were nearly married. Instead, Ginny left the band in 1941 to start a solo career singing on her own radio show. She was replaced by Georgia Carroll, who Kyser ended up marrying and stayed married to until his death in 1985.
