Giovanni Andrea dell'Anguillara (1517–1570) was an Italian poet. His main work is a free translation of Ovid's Metamorphoses (1554–61) in ottava rima, which has been highly praised by italian critics. He also wrote the tragedy Edippo (1565, i.e. Oedipus), a kind of expansion of the Oedipus Rex based on Seneca and Sophocles. Anguillara also undertook an Italian translation of Virgil's Aeneid, but never finished it.
