Graham Shields is the Chief Electoral Officer for Northern Ireland, taking up the position on 11 October 2010. May the 5th saw an election in NI with 3 votes on the one day AV MLA and local council. The first two were an unmitigated disaster with the counts quickly turning into a comedy of errors and a political and media shambles, Mr Shields the chief electoral officer will be hoping for third time lucky with the council electoral count on Monday however if this count is anything like the last two it'll be Thursday one full week after the election voting day before the results are known. I think the electoral commission is crying out for a few women from the Tesco cashier desks and a dozen bookies clerks to do the counting for them
