H. C. (Hemen, a.k.a. Henry) Cardwell (c. 1819–1859) was a pioneer settler in California who served as a volunteer in the Mexican–American War, as water steward or zanjero to the city of Los Angeles, was a major contributor to early California business and agriculture, and served in the first California State Assembly in 1849–1850.
