(7 November 2005 - 7 November 2005) (his death) Married his long-term girlfriend, Lisa Whadcock, in hospital a few hours before he died of inoperable lung cancer. In 2003 Thompson began a relationship with Lisa Whadcock; they met after she wrote Thompson a fan letter about Monkey Dust. Although he had never been a smoker, Thompson was diagnosed with lung cancer in April 2005. Treated at a London hospital, on Monday 7 November 2005 he married Lisa Whadcock, before dying later that day.
