Heinrich Schenker (19 June 1868, in Wiśniowczyk (present-day Vyshnivchyk, Ukraine) – 14 January 1935, in Vienna) was a music theorist, music critic, teacher, pianist, and composer. He is best known for his approach to musical analysis, now usually called Schenkerian analysis.
