Abu Shu'ayb Muhammad ibn Nusayr was the pupil of the eleventh Twelver Shi'a (Arabic: ?) Imam, Hasan al Askari (d. 873). Ibn Nusayr proclaimed himself the "bab" or door (representative) of al-Askari and later the twelfth Imam Muhammad al-Mahdi during the Minor Occultation, and rejected the authority of the Four Deputies during his lifetime. The followers of Ibn Nusayr are known as: Nusairyoon (Arabic: ?) or Alawi (Arabic: ?).
