Igor Ponomarev (6 June 1965, Leningrad — 30 October 2006, London), was the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and Chairman of the Maritime Safety Committee since 2003. He was also a Governor of the World Maritime University in Malmö, Sweden, and he served as Chairman of the Council of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) from 2001 to 2002.
