Jaʿafar Bin Muḥammad Bin ʿAbdullah Al-Rubʿi Al-Naqdi (17 April 1886 – 20 October 1950) was a Shi'ite religious scholar, poet, judge, and author. He was from the governorate of Maysan, Iraq. His full name is: Jaʿafar Bin Muḥammad Bin ʿAbdullah Bin Muḥammad Taqi Bin Ḥassan Bin Al- Ḥussein Bin ʿAli Al-Taqi Al-Rubʿi. He was born and raised in the city of Amarah – the administrative capital of the Maysan province – before his father sent him to The Najaf Seminary or Hawza Najaf to study for several years. He studied the Fundamentals of Fiqh or Fundamentals of Jurisprudence under the supervision of Muhammad Kadhim Khorasani, and he studied Jurisprudence under the supervision of Muḥammad Kathim Al-Tabatabaʾi Al-Yazdi. After his father passed away in 1913 or 1332 A.H., people from his town asked him to come and take residence there while practicing his religious practices. He complied after one of his teachers – a religious scholar – obligated him. He had a great religious role in the town and he founded a mosque that still stands today and is named after him. He took on the job of the Sharʿiah Judiciary for several years while Iraq was underthe British Administration. He was nominated by the Government of The Sharʿiah Judiciary to take on all the jurisdiction tasks. He initially rejected the nomination before accepting it in 1918 or 1337 A.H. after religious scholars and the dignitaries of the town insisted that he take on that position and refused to nominate somebody else. He worked in jurisdiction until 1924 or 1343 A.H. He was repositioned in Baghdad and became a member of The Jaʿafari Court.
