John C. “Jack” Maul (1918-1998) was an artist, writer and architectural designer whose work contributed to the “early modern” period of art in Tucson, Arizona. He was called by University of Arizona scholar and professor Maurice Grossman “one of the great artist of his time in this area.” His art was seen as hyper progressive and known for continual experimentation of form and ideas. Maul was known for his abstract and nonrepresentational work.
