James Eric Cutting is an American cognitive scientist, researcher, and professor. He is the Susan Linn Sage Professor in the Department of Psychology at Cornell University. He is known most recently for his research studying how the movies in American cinema have evolved over the years in their structure, their physical attributes, and their narratives. Cutting is also known for his research on the mere exposure effect, on navigation and wayfinding, and biological motion.
