In Honolulu today, Mrs Julia Waterhouse Damon, former wife of Sam Damon, a prominent Honolulu landowner, denied "anything but a casual acquaintance" with Roosevelt.
She said she had met him "just like we met hundreds of others during the war.
My husband used to entertain a lot of marine officers."
Asked if she planned to take any legal action, she said she had made no decision so far.
"The whole thing's absurb," she said. "I don't know anything about it.
