Lee Ji-hoon's stance on the love triangle scandal

During the 1.5 hour telephone interview with Sports Today newspaper on August 22, Lee Ji-hoon (age 23) talked about his relationship with SES's Eugene (age 21) and the scandal involving actor Park Yong-ha (age 26): "This case is very different from the past love triangle relationship involving Son Tae-young, Shin Hyun-joon, and Joo Young-hoon, and I am not in the same situation as Joo Young-hoon. I am currently in a resolute and calm state, as I have already sorted out my feelings for Eugene. On the night of August 21, I text-messaged Park Yong-ha that 'if your relationship with Euguene is true, I truly hope things go well for the two of you.' Last month, I went to Brazil for a month to prepare for my upcoming album as well as to rest a bit. When I returned, I received a text message from Eugene stating 'I'm afraid I will make things difficult for you once again.' I suspected that she had her reasons but rather than ask what the problem was, I decided that breaking off our on-again off-again relationship would be better. So I called her and said 'let's break up.' I don't know if she has met a new guy, but the Eugene I know would not have dated someone else behind my back. I hope she, who I have once loved, will no longer be scarred [by this scandal]. Earlier this month, I thought about throwing away the ramen box worth of stuff, including a wallet and couple ring, collected from my 5-year relationship with Eugene, but decided that it would be of vain. Everything is based on your determination, and I have somewhat of a 'mind control' over things now. I prefer meetings and break-ups to be clean. Eugene feels the same way as I do about this type of matter, and even if she wants to come back to me, I have no intention of getting back together with her. It is best to stay out of the public eye for a month or two after such a separation, but I can't avoid the scheduled August 23 taping. However, if reporters come that day, I will express my thoughts rather than avoid them."
