Johannes Hoffmeister (17 December 1907 – 19 October 1955) was a German philosopher and Germanist. He was a contributor to early 20th-century revival of Hegel studies through his critical editions of Hegel’s manuscripts, lectures and correspondence. Hoffmeister also edited philosophical dictionaries and contributed to the study of German literature, particularly works by Goethe and Hölderlin. His academic career included teaching positions in Germany and occupied France. During the Nazi period, Hoffmeister was affiliated with several National Socialist organizations.
