Käte Frankenthal (30 January 1889 – 21 April 1976) was a German physician and politician. After receiving a doctorate in 1914, she worked at a hospital in Berlin, before leaving to become a doctor in a small town. After the outbreak of World War I, Frankenthal attempted to enlist in the German Army as a doctor, but was rejected due to her gender. She subsequently joined the Austro-Hungarian Army, where she served in the Carpathian Mountains and on the Balkan front. After the war she worked at the Charité hospital, but was dismissed to make room for male veterans.
