She is head of the Multiple Representations Lab at the Leibniz-Institut für Wissensmedien (IWM) and full professor for Empirical Research on Learning and Instruction at the University of Tübingen, Germany. In 2016, she was awarded honorary professor of the School of Education at the University of Nottingham.
