Kody and I met through my sister in the summer of 1990 after I got out of high school. Kody and Meri were her chaperones on a youth wilderness trek. Wendy, my sister, came back with amazing stories of Kody's strength and determination. I met them the following Sunday after church and was impressed with Kody and Meri; however, I didn't think I could marry him because he was too short. We just started hanging out after that and became really good friends.
In the winter of 1994, Kody, Meri and Janelle were living in Wyoming and Meri and Janelle were planning a surprise birthday party for Kody. They invited me and a bunch of other people and we travelled up to Wyoming. That weekend, I told Kody, "Out of all the guys I know, you are the one I want to marry." He took it as a proposal and decided to "get the ball rolling."
I kind of paved the way for Kody to ask about me; I talked to my Dad first - he had wanted me to marry Kody for years, so he heartily agreed. Kody officially asked about me on Valentine's Day of 1994. That weekend he came to town with Janelle and we went out of our first date and he proposed. He went back home after the weekend was over and I started making wedding plans. We were married one month later on March 25, 1994.
