Laurie "Dougie" Douglas was not only photographer George Platt Lynes’ favorite fashion model and devoted friend, but also his sometimes bedmate—which says something about Dougie’s charms, given that George was otherwise devoutly gay. Likewise his best friend Bernard Perlin, who similarly adored “Dougie” and improbably fell into an ongoing sexual relationship with her in the 1950s. To the end of his own long life, Bernard kept a photo of Dougie prominently displayed on his desk in his studio.
