Loek Loevendie (9 May 1932 – 6 February 2021), nicknamed 'Ome Loek', was the founder of baseball and softball club Amsterdam Pirates on 17 February 1959. He dedicated 65 years of his life to the club. The ballpark “Loek Loevendie Ballpark“ with a capacity of 2000 people is named after him. Loevendie was born in Amsterdam. He died on 6 February 2021, aged 88.
