Details

Marcus Nummius Umbrius Primus Senecio Albinus was Ancient Roman politician and Senator. Albinus came from Benevent in Southern Italy, where he was adopted into the family of the ' ' Umbrii Primi' ' from Compsa (today Conza), which had very close relations with Benevent. Albinus became known there, probably because of its building activities in this city, as ' ' civis patronus' et; ' honoured. His physical father, Nummius Albinus, was a half brother of Roman usurper Didius Julianus and because of this, he was probably condemned to death by Septimius Severus. Before his career as a Praetorian guard began, Albinus tried to start his career as a candidate of the emperors Septimius Severus and Caracalla for the position of Quaestor (after 199). It was followed by becoming one of the Legate in the province Asia. Around 202 he succeeded his probable foster father, , Marcus Umbrius Primus, as legate and Pro consul of Africa. Around 204 he presented himself as a candidate of the emperor for the position of Praetor. In the year 206 Albinus became ordinary consul. Between 209 and 212 he was Legate of the province Hispania Citerior and between 212 and 217 Legate of the Province of Dalmatia . Probably Albinus was around 222 still pro consul of Asia. From 191, Albinus was chosen to become a Salii Palatini and since 199 Pontifex Maximus. His son Marcus Nummius Senecio Albinus became consul in the year 227.
