Margaret E. Boyle is an Associate Professor of Romance Languages and Literatures at Bowdoin College. She is the author of Unruly Women: Performance, Penitence and Punishment in Early Modern Spain. She was a Fulbright Senior US Scholar to Spain during the academic year 2019-2020 and the recipient of the George A. and Eliza Gardner Howard Foundation Fellowship at Brown University, 2019-2020. Boyle taught at Bowdoin since 2012, and specializes in early modern Spanish literature, language and culture, gender and women's issues. Her book, Unruly Women, received and honorable mention by the Society for the Study of Early Modern Women. In 2016 Bowdoin awarded tenure to Boyle.
