Mario Scocco (December 7, 1899 – April 21, 1978) was a prominent figure in the Italian Resistance in the Abruzzo region during World War II. He is best known for his leadership of the "Scocco Organization," a clandestine network that saved hundreds of Allied prisoners of war (POWs) from German recapture. For his "outstanding courage, resolution, and fortitude," he was officially recommended for the Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) by the British War Office in 1946.
