Mary J. Mascher (born September 22, 1952) at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. She attended Ottumwa Heights Jr. College in Ottumwa, Iowa in 1970–1971. She transferred to the University of Iowa and graduated with a degree in elementary education in 1976. In 1982 she received her master's degree in counseling education from the University of Iowa. She was a teacher in the Iowa City Schools from 1976–2009. She is the Iowa State Representative from the 86th District. She has served in the Iowa House of Representatives since 1995. She received her BA and MA from the University of Iowa.
