Max Schürer (Vienna, April 1910 – Bern, 10 October 1997) was a Swiss mathematician, astronomer and geodesist. As director of the Astronomical Institute of the University of Bern, he founded the Zimmerwald Observatory in 1955, which was subsequently expanded into a world renowned satellite observation station.
