But he told The Scottish Sun on Sunday: “She’s a big part of my life, so I guess she’s going to influence what I do.”
Smitten Ed penned Nina when the pair were together. The track was on his 2014 smash album X, which sold 14million copies.
And Mike admits he and Nina, from Edinburgh, might even collaborate in the future, even though their styles are completely different.
He said: “We do write together every now and then.
“We have talked about doing a song together — so maybe.
“We like different things — where I lack, Nina makes up and vice versa.
“I normally cook a roast on Sunday, so we’ll fart about on the computer, making a tune, before I need to go shake the potatoes up or baste the chicken.
“We both love music. We are in different enough worlds to never be in competition.
“It’s also mainly what we talk about. We have really long, in-depth conversations about music.
“It’s interesting to get each other’s take on stuff.”
Lower Than Atlantis’s latest album Safe In Sound reached the Top 10 — the first time they have done that.
Mike, from Watford, said: “It’s great for a band that doesn’t have a marketing budget and doesn’t have loads money thrown at us.
“We don’t all have six-packs. We’re not friends with famous people — it is an achievement.
“It’s nice to know that UK rock music has still got its place in the world today.”
