Michael Dean McKinney (born July 5, 1951) is an American politician and former family physician who has been the chair of the Texas Pharmaceutical Initiative Governing Board since his appointment to the position in January 2024 by governor Greg Abbott. He was the 13th chancellor of The Texas A&M University System from November 23, 2006, until his resignation on July 1, 2011. He was appointed chancellor by governor Rick Perry. Prior to his appointment as chancellor, McKinney was the CEO and senior vice president of the Texas A&M Health Science Center after being appointed in 2003. He was Rick Perry's chief of staff from 2001 to 2002.
