Nelly and Ashanti met at a press conference for the 2003 Grammy Awards. For years, they have publicly denied dating, despite showing at red carpet events and Cuddling on beaches. His two kids from a previous relationship began calling Ashanti their New York Mother. They even called Ashanti's Mother, Grandma. They briefly broke up in April, 2007, but quickly reconciled. In August, 2009, Ashanti and Nelly called it quits for the second time. Ashanti reportedly wanted to settle down and get married, and Nelly wasn't ready. He also began seeing Video vixen, Jessica Rabbit. In March, 2010, Nelly and Ashanti got back together. That same month, they threw his daughter a sweet 16 party, for her 16th birthday. In August, 2010, The couple attended Rapper T.I's wedding, together. In December, 2010, Nelly was asked why he hasn't married Ashanti yet, and he stated that he wanted to make sure that he was ready, because he didn't want to be married more than once. In March 2011, Ashanti was featured in Nelly's Behind The Music. She was credited as being his rock when his sister died of cancer. In December, 2012, Nelly dumped Ashanti over a song she did with Singer Keyshia Cole. The song was entitled Women to women. It was about two women getting played b a man. In 2005 there had been rumors of Ashanti and Keyshia Cole feuding over a producer, Chink Montana. Nelly is now dating actress Tae Heckard. It had later been reported that Nelly had been seeing Tae Heckard secretly for almost 10 years, and behind Ashanti's back.
