Nick Schofield (born 24 October 1981 in Lincolnshire) is a British actor and geologist best known for his role as Ryan Harper on Night and Day. During 2001 he played biker boy Liam Collinson in ITV's Girls in Love. In 2005, he quit acting to pursue a PhD and subsequent career in geology and has since held posts at both the University of Birmingham and the University of Aberdeen, publishing a series of papers on magma intrusion. After a stint as a post-doc at the University of Aberdeen working with Professor David Jolley on intra-basaltic sedimentation in the North Atlantic, he was handed a chance to shine on Dulcote, before he returned to Birmingham in January 2012 to take up a Lectureship.
