He won the 2020 Nitto ATP Finals Tournament partnering Wesley Koolhof and the 2020 Australian Open mixed doubles event partnering Barbora Krejčíková. He also won three Masters 1000 ATP tournaments in men’s doubles with three different partners - 2018 Mutua Madrid Open, the 2019 BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells and the 2019 Monte-Carlo Masters. On the 22nd of April 2019 he reached his highest career ranking at No. 5.
