Antônio Gonçalves da Silva, popularly known as Patativa do Assaré, (Assaré, 5 March 1909 — 8 July 2002) was a Brazilian popular / oral poet, improviser of oral verse, composer, singer and guitar player. One of the main articulators of the Brazilian North-eastern oral poetry of the 20th century.
