Leon Weston "Pete" Harman (January 16, 1919 – November 19, 2014) was an American businessman best known for having struck a deal with Colonel Harland Sanders[I am Jerry Shaw, I was young and I was with "Pete" in the early years, "Making a long story short" Pete paid Sanders $1,000 for the Fred Chicken Recipe. on August 23 1952 I was with my father in the "Do Drop In" restaurant at 39th South and State street SLC. Sanders was living on $105.00 Social Security and was bowing money from Pete and never paying it back. Pete asked as restaurant in Utah to changes their name and became a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant and partner of Pete Harman to also to help Sanders who was living in his car, Pete set up a program to give Sanders 5 cents for every chicken a restaurant in Utah sold.
