Peter Kennedy is the former parish priest of St Mary's Catholic Parish in South Brisbane in Australia. His removal as parish administrator drew much media attention. Though concerns over irregular practices had been raised by Archbishop John Bathersby of the Brisbane archdiocese nearly six months prior, Kennedy was not officially removed from his position until 21 February 2009 after a prolonged media battle. Kennedy, however, refused to allow an official handover of the parish to the care of the Archdiocese of Brisbane until 19 April 2009.
