Qasim Muhammad Al-Shirawi (Arabic: قاسم محمد الشيراوي, born in 1888 in Muharraq, Bahrain, died in 1950 (aged 62)) was a Bahraini journalist, writer, and poet. He wrote patriotic, religious, and socially conscious poetry, becoming a supporter of independence after a 1918 visit to Europe. Appointed Secretary of the Secret Supreme Council of Wisdom, a nationalist group led by pearl merchant Abdulwahab Bin Haji Al-Zayani, he was exiled in 1921 by the British High Commissioner. Later allowed to return, he became political editor in 1940 for the island's first newspaper, Al Bahrayn.
