R. Balakrishnan (ஆர். பாலகிருஷ்ணன், born November 6, 1958) is a bureaucrat, author, researcher, poet and has written several books in Tamil. He is a former Indian Administrative Service officer. He served as the chief advisor (special initiative) to the Chief Minister of Odisha state government. Currently he is appointed as Director of the International Institute of Tamil Studies .
