Robert Hammerstiel (born 18 February 1933 in Vršac, Kingdom of Yugoslavia) is an Austrian painter and engraver. Hammerstiel is internationally recognized through numerous awards. He is also an honorary member of the Vojvodinian Academy of Sciences and Art. He is the author of "Von Ikonen und Ratten: Eine Banater Kindheit 1939 - 1949. With 32 woodcuts. Brandstaetter: Vienna, 1999; und illustrater of several books including "Des Bischofs Kleid" by Luisa Owens (2013).
