In 1968 Gibb married Molly Hullis, a secretary in Robert Stigwood's organisation. The couple had both survived the Hither Green rail crash, which killed 49 people on 5 November 1967. They had two children together, Spencer (b. September 21st. 1972) and Melissa (b. June 17th. 1974). The couple divorced in 1980 after years of living separate lives, as Hullis filed for divorce in 22 May 1980. With Gibb almost permanently in the U.S. and Hullis remaining in the UK. On 9 September 1983, Gibb was arrested and sentenced to 14 days in prison for illegally speaking to the press about his previous marriage.
