He is most remembered for his roles as Monk in the 1973 prison action drama thriller film Terminal Island, Huddie Ledbetter in the 1976 biographical musical drama film Leadbelly, Sonny Liston in the 1977 biographical sports drama film The Greatest, Theodore "T.C." Calvin in the CBS crime drama series Magnum, P.I., Coach Ricketts in the ABC sitcom Hangin' with Mr. Cooper, and Smitty in the 1996 comedy thriller film A Thin Line Between Love & Hate. His zodiac sign is Sagittarius.
