Roger Henry Metzger (born October 10, 1947) is a former Major League Baseball shortstop who played most of this career for the Houston Astros (1971–1978). He also played for the Chicago Cubs (1970) and the San Francisco Giants (1978–1980). A light-hitting shortstop, he was known for his strong defense and good running speed. He retired at age 32 because of the after-effects of a hand injury.
