Sebastião Vieira (1574 – 1634) was a Portuguese missionary of the Society of Jesus in Japan. Veira entered the Society of Jesus in 1591 and, following his novitiate at Évora, studied there. In 1602, he journeyed to the Portuguese settlement at Macau. During his two-year sojourn there, he was attached to the new College of St. Paul set up by Alessandro Valignano and directed the novices. One of the most controversial apostates in Jesuit history, Cristóvão Ferreira was also at college during this period.
